Star Garrison

Star Garrison represents Texas within the 501st Legion. The 501st Legion (aka Vader’s Fist) is a worldwide Star Wars fan club celebrating the Star Wars universe using costumes and props, in particular those of the Stormtrooper characters, Imperial forces, and other various “bad guy” characters. The Legion is a volunteer club formed for the express purpose of bringing together costume enthusiasts and giving them a collective identity within which to operate. The Legion’s aims are to celebrate the Star Wars movies through the wearing of costumes, to promote the quality and improvement of costumes and props, and most importantly, to contribute to the local community through charity and volunteer work.

Star Garrison works to participate in the community for the benefit of the children. Whether it is visiting local children’s hospitals, participating in benefits that support children, or just having fun at conventions, our desire to bring the joy of the Star Wars universe we had growing up to the children of this generation.

Please contact us if you are interested in joining the Empire or would like for us to appear at your event.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a time to increase awareness of the disease, support research and educate people about the causes, prevention, diagnosis, treatment and cure. It's also a time to show our support to those affected by breast cancer.

Meet one of our members BH 14019 from The Central Texas Squad of The Star Garrison. She noticed some changes in her breast tissue and was diagnosed with Stage 3B breast cancer in August 2018. She underwent double mastectomy surgery and 10 lymph node removal in November 2018. During 2018 and 2019, she received both chemorherapy and radiation treatments.
Lastly, she had reconstruction surgery in August 2019. As of October 2020, all scans have been clear of cancer.

Unfortunately her mom was diagnosed with the same cancer in September 2020 and we send our best regards to her as she begins radiation next month.

Because a cancer diagnosis is monumental to process, Niki is now a daily breast cancer and mammogram advocate. She also ... See more

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a time to increase awareness of the disease, support research and educate people about the causes, prevention, diagnosis, treatment and cure. It's also a time to show our support to those affected by breast cancer.

Meet TK 8200 from The South Texas Squad of The Star Garrison. After finding a lump in her breast during a mammogram in August 2016, she underwent several surgeries including lump, tumor and tissue removal. She also was treated with 7 weeks of radiation and multiple reconstructive surgeries to get where she is today - a 3 year breast cancer survivor!
Now TK 8200 spends some of her free time volunteering in the community with the 501st Legion. We're glad to have her as part of the Star Garrison family!

This past Saturday, members of The South Texas Squad of The Star Garrison, Kessel Base of the Rebel Legion and the Galactic Academy visited seniors at 4 different nursing homes around League City, La Marque and Texas City.

We thanks The Resort at Texas City, Seabreeze Nursing Home, HRA Village and Bayou Pines Care Center for allowing us to bring a smile to the face of your residents and staff.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a time to increase awareness of the disease, support research and educate people about the causes, prevention, diagnosis, treatment and cure. It's also a time to show our support to those affected by breast cancer.

On Tuesday and Wednesday, you'll meet two of our members who are breast cancer survivors who want to give hope to others.

In the meantime, make sure you speak with your physician about ways to prevent breast cancer especially if you have a history of cancer in your family. Also participate in events that support breast cancer research, education and support. Together we can fight this disease that affects over 260,000 people annually.
